Fully vaccinated Pinoys now at 11.2M —Galvez

August 9 ------ The number of fully vaccinated Filipinos hits 11.2 million as of August 8, over five months after the government began its vaccination program in March 2021, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said Sunday. "Almost 13 million have taken their first dose while 11.2 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated, representing 15.88% of the targeted eligible population... and also 10.13% of the total Philippine population," said Galvez in a press conference after the arrival of 326,400 doses of Moderna vaccines in Manila.

Target eligible population are those in the age group of 18 years old and above. Also, Galvez disclosed that the Philippines has administered 24,174,821 doses of various vaccines nationwide. On Aug. 5, the country was able to administer 710,482 COVID-19 vaccine doses, which was the record-high single-day vaccination output in the country, so far. On Sunday, Philippines reported 1,658,916 total number of COVID-19 cases including 77,516 active cases, 1,552,278 recoveries and 29,122 deaths.
