Former ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ contestant Jeramie Sanico earns four-chair turn on ‘The Voice Australia’

August 19 ------ Another Filipino singer is making her name on a global stage. Jeramie Sanico, who may be remembered from her stint on local singing competition Tawag ng Tanghalan, has now made a mark abroad after receiving a four-chair turn at The Voice Australia.

In a post she shared on her Facebook page, Jeramie shared that it was her first time to be part of a televised singing competition since joining Tawag ng Tanghalan a decade ago. “I have not been on TV since Showtime. My last TV competition was 10 years ago. Since I’ve been in Australia, the only time I sang was in our churches, and they weren’t performances but renditions to God. I’ve been singing as well in my kitchen, bathroom and in front of my kids, so I really feel like I’m starting from ground zero,” she shared.

Despite her nerves, Jeramie gave it her all during her Blind Audition, performing her rendition of Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me.” “Tonight, I was really nervous, as you can hear in the beginning. But I’ve poured my whole heart into it. I meant every word of that song. Coming to Australia, I know that I’m gonna have to start all over again when it comes to singing, but I didn’t expect that it will lead me here,” she added.

For the Filipina singer, joining the international singing competition was a surreal moment for her. “Coming from a humble life in the Philippines, who would have thought that a little girl born with a big dream would be able to step onto The Voice Stage? My goal in joining isn’t just to win, but to let God shine through it all. Every melody, every lyric, I want God to be known as the main source of everything. Without Him, I am nothing,” she said. “Wherever this journey may lead me, I am already sooo grateful. I am truly humbled and honoured. It was God all along, and tonight, I’m giving it all back to Him 🙏🏼,” she ended.

Jeramie impressed the competition’s four judges — Melanie C, Ronan Keating, Richard Marx, and Kate Miller-Heidke — with her vocal prowess and touching performance. The Filipina singer dedicated her performance to her family, particularly her father, who flew all the way from the Philippines to Australia to watch her compete. Her emotional performance earned high praise from the coaches.

“Celine Dion is a tough call, and I was blown away by that,” judge Kate said. “You have a magnificent instrument. That belt was extraordinarily high and then so high and then flipping up, and it was crystalline. It was pure, and I love to work with you.” Melanie C added, “What an amazing performance! It really brought tears to my eyes. There is so much love and emotion. You are just sending the way, and we are all feeling it.” “You smashed it. There were some moments of pure brilliance,” judge Ronan said.

With all four coaches turning their chairs, Jeramie ultimately chose Richard Marx as her coach, who also once worked with Celine Dion. “I think you’re going to win this thing,” Richard told her. For Jeramie, the moment marks a new chapter in a musical journey that began years ago in the Philippines.
