September 15 ------ Ely Buendia and Gloc-9 are the latest addition to the list of performers in the first-ever Filipino Music Awards (FMA) in October, which celebrates the milestones of Original Pilipino Music (OPM). The OPM icons were announced as performers on the awards ceremony’s social media platforms. “The stage is set for a masterful storyteller. Ely Buendia steps into the spotlight at the Filipino Music Awards… Hip-hop icon. Filipino rap legend. Gloc-9 is primed to take the Filipino Music Awards 2025 stage,” the posts read.
Also confirmed to perform in the ceremony are Ben&Ben, Yeng Constantino, Maki, and P-pop boy group BGYO. Also part of the lineup of performers are SB19, BINI, IV of Spades, Lolita Carbon, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
The FMAs will be directed by Johnny Manahan, with organizers noting that there’s “no better director” to take charge of the ceremony other than him. “A true architect of entertainment. A master of the stage. A director befitting the Filipino Music Awards. Johnny Manahan, also known as ‘Mr. M has long defined excellence in Philippine television and live shows,” the post read. “Mr. M carries that same legacy of excellence to the inaugural Filipino Music Awards. And for the biggest evening in Filipino music, there is simply no better director to lead the way,” it continued.
The FMAs, which is organized by Modern Media Group Inc., will be held on October 21 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay. Twenty awards from five major categories will be awarded, with the winners being determined by public voting and judges, depending on the “combination of metric success and artistic excellence.”
