February 18 ------ Filipina music executive Roslyn Pineda was appointed the new president of Sony Music Publishing Asia, succeeding longtime president Carol Ng, who is set to retire at the end of March 2026.

Pineda, who previously served as general manager of Sony Music Philippines, will now be in charge of “overseeing creative and business operations” across the music label’s Asian territories and will “expand global support” for songwriters in the region. She will now be based in Hong Kong.

The music executive was also the vice president of artist relations and business development of the label’s Asian branch. “I am thrilled to take on this leadership role at Sony Music Publishing Asia during such an exciting time for our industry and our region. I look forward to collaborating with our talented team and working closely with [Sony Music Publishing International president] Guy Henderson and Jon Platt to empower our songwriters across Asia,” she said in a statement.

“Together, we will foster a vibrant, energetic environment that prioritizes creativity and innovation, ensuring that the voices of our creators are heard and celebrated. Keen to make great things happen,” she continued.

Henderson said he is looking forward to seeing Pineda bring a “new focus” to growing the influence of Asian artists in the music scene. “I am so pleased that Ros will take over the reins as president for SMP Asia, which is one of our most important and continuously expanding international regions,” he said. “With Ros’s success in the artist development and creative space, as well as her experience of more than two decades in the music business, she brings a new focus to the region to further expand our business into the future.”

Fondly known as “Mama Sony” among Filipino fans, Pineda oversaw the reopening of the music label’s Philippine brand, as well as the signing of SB19, Ben&Ben, and IV of Spades into the label. She is known for being vocal in her support for the label’s artists, and would often use social media to share their music. She is often seen at launch events and press conferences for its artists as well, and would make a point of having a representative whenever her schedule doesn’t permit. She also worked with several international artists, including John Mayer, F4, Leehom Wang, Jessi, Sekai No Owari, Ricky Martin, Alicia Keys, and One Direction
