Fiery Choco Mucho deals Cignal its first loss of PVL season

March 15 ------ CHOCO Mucho crushed Cignal’s perfect three-game start to protect its own unbeaten run, 25-18, 25-20, 25-21, in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena. Sisi Rondina’s game-high 23 markers on 22 attacks and one block extended Choco Mucho’s league-leading record to four straight games.

Rondina and Choco Mucho ace spiker Kat Tolentino connived for the lion’s share of attacks (33 of 44 hits) while also manning the floor with 10 digs from Tolentino and eight receptions from Rondina. Adding fuel to the Flying Titans’ fiery offense was their newest playmaker Mars Alba with 19 excellent sets to her name, extending her strong run of form in front of 2,865 fans.

Meanwhile, Cignal’s best efforts on defense were led by veteran libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig with 16 receptions and 11 digs to her name couldn’t make up for their sheer lack of offense. And for the first time this conference, no HD Spiker hit double figures in a single game as captain Ces Molina had the team’s best scoring output with nine points.
