Envoy: Japan a faithful PH ally

April 14 ------ JAPANESE Ambassador to Manila Endo Kazuya said Japan will be a faithful ally to the Philippines in maintaining peace in the region. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) after the event, Enzo said he was honored to be part of the occasion. "My sincerest respect goes to war veterans who fought for peace and freedom. Japan, together with the Philippines and like-minded countries, reaffirms its commitment to preserving peace and prosperity in the region," Endo wrote. He added that he has extended his "heartfelt condolences to those who passed away and to their families who carried the burden of their loss during the battle that took place 82 years ago."

Japan and the Philippines are closest friends now, by virtue of the tireless efforts of our ancestors to rebuild our mutual trust on the basis of deep remorse," Endo said. He promised to elevate the Manila-Tokyo ties to further heights in a wide range of areas, including people-to-people exchanges, trade and investment, economic cooperation, maritime law enforcement, and defense cooperation.

Endo said Japan would continue to cooperate with the Philippines and the United States in upholding free and open seas based on the rule of law.
