MANILA, March 10 ------ Up and coming Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo wrapped up his debut in the senior level at the 2026 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Baku in Azerbaijan.

Eldrew is the younger brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo. The 18-year-old gymnast came up empty-handed in the finals of his pet event, the floor exercise and the horizontal bar. Yulo finished seventh out of eight competitors in the men's horizontal bar on Sunday, after scoring 13.033.

His routine had no deductions, with execution at 8.033 and the difficulty at 5.0. Olympic bronze medalist Tang Chia-Hung of Chinese Taipei took home the gold with a score of 15.366. Kazakhstan's Karimi Milad finished second with 15.033, getting another silver medal, with the first coming from floor exercise. Colombia's Angel Barajas clinched bronze in the event after tallying 14.400. Yulo on Saturday competed in the men's floor exercise final, where he finished sixth with a score of 13.900.

The young gymnast earlier said he is tempering expectations for the FIG World Cup Baku, his first competition in the senior level. Yulo hopes to take all the learning from this experience so he can improve and move towards his dream of qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics alongside his brother. The World Cup series continues for Yulo and top gymnasts, with the next leg set for March 10 to 12 in Antalya, Turkiye.
