July 3 ------ EJ OBIENA reigned supreme in a second consecutive tournament, this time the Raiffeisen Austrian Open in Eisenstadt, Austria.
Obiena cleared 5.75 meters to claim the gold, as well as a new meet record, surpassing the previous mark by 0.01 by Austin Miller of the U.S. in 2024. The Filipino pole vaulter was just coming off a win in the Czeslaw Cybulski Memorial in Poland with a height of 5.72 last Sunday.
He won the meet, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver category, over Owen Heard of Great Britain (5.55) and Dan Barta of Czech Republic (5.55). Obiena moved closer to his season best of 5.78 during the ISTAF Indoor 2026 in Berlin last March.
