November 26 ------ EJ Laure is off to a new ride with Nxled after a surprise offseason exit from Chery Tiggo. The Chameleons picked up much-needed help to turn its fortunes around from an 0-2 start in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference with a decorated veteran hitter in Laure. “Welcome to the Nxled Chameleons, Ennajie Laure! We’re so thrilled to have you on board and can’t wait to see you light up this fresh start,” the club wrote. “We’re rooting for you on your return to the PVL court, EJ!“
Just before the new PVL season got underway, the Crossovers had a rocky exodus that saw the departures of Laure sisters EJ and Eya alongside libero Buding Duremdes. The 27-year-old University of Sto. Tomas ace has reached her new destination days after Duremdes’ move to Cignal and roughly three weeks into the league’s longest conference yet.
What the older of the Laure sisters will bring to the table for Nxled is title-winning pedigree, being a former Philippine Superliga (PSL) champion with Foton in the 2016 Grand Prix on top of a silver medal and two top three finishes. She also racked up a best outside hitter nod in the 2017 PSL All-Filipino Conference and two more of the same honor in the original iteration of the Shakey’s V-League in 2015 and 2016.
Boosting a young scoring core with Chiara Permentilla and Lycha Ebon, Laure could make her Nxled debut under the baton of Italian coach Ettore Guidetti on Tuesday against her former side Chery Tiggo.
