Duterte: Reds asked for too much

June 9 ------ President Rodrigo Duterte said he does not want to resume peace talks with communist rebels, saying they ask for too much from the government. In an interview with Pastor Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City, Duterte claimed communist rebels have demanded a coalition government. "Ayaw ko na makipag-usap eh kasi arogante. I mean, I reviewed with the military. Sabi ko sa military, i-review and bigyan ako ng recommendation," Duterte said.

In April last year, Duterte scrapped the peace talks with the National Democratic Front, the political arm of the group. Duterte made the remark as he accused the New People's Army of killing soldiers on humanitarian missions amid the COVID-19 crisis.
