DTI releases updated list of certified fireworks

MANILA, Philippines, December 29 ------ As many Filipinos are preparing for the New Year’s celebration, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) released the updated list of fireworks as certified by the DTI – Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS).
DTI said that the following manufacturers and their brands are issued with a valid Philippine Standards (PS) Certification Mark License:
- PS License Q-1469: Diamond Fireworks Inc. (brand: Diamond)
- Q-1253: Dragon Fireworks Incorporated (Dragon Fireworks)
- Q-5708: Dreamlight Fireworks Manufacturing (Dreamlight Fireworks)
- Q-6482: F.R.T Fireworks (FRT)
- Q-5443: JPL Manufacturing Fireworks (JPL Fireworks)
- Q-1903: Legendary Fireworks Inc. (LF Fireworks)
- Q-5248: Maribel Sta. Ana Fireworks (Maribel Sta. Ana Fireworks)
- Q-1388 Nation Fireworks (Nation)
- Q-1352: Pyro Kreations Fireworks (Pyro Kreations)
- Q-4667: Star Light Fireworks (Star Light)
The DTI then issued the following safety reminders in buying fireworks and lighting their fuse:
- Check for the PS Mark along with the license number
- Buy only from licensed manufacturers
- Always read and follow the instructions before use
- Don’t use the firework if in doubt of safety
- Do not pick up fireworks that failed to explode
- Keep windows and doors closed to block stray fireworks
- Stand at a safe spectator distance
- Do not pull pranks or scare people using fireworks
- Use a long pole to ignite from a safe distance
- Protect your eyes by wearing goggles or glasses. Wear cotton or denim clothing, as synthetic materials like polyesters are not recommended
- Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby to extinguish any accidental fires
- Have a first aid kid on standby
The Philippine National Police earlier reminded the public of the following prohibited types of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices (FCPD):
- Overweight: firecrackers with more than ⅓ teaspoon or more than 0.2 gram of net explosive content
- Oversized: like super lolo, giant whistle bomb, atomic big triangule and etc.
- Mixture of sulfur and/or phosphorus with that of chlorates
- Class 1,2 and 3: suitable for the general public but class 4 shall only be sold to licensed pyrotechnicians and/or fireworks display operators
List of prohibited firecrackers not allowed to be used anywhere in the country:
