DSWD releases P10M for victims of 7.0-magnitude Luzon quake

July 28 ------ The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released an initial P10 million worth of assistance to families affected by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Abra province.

DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo checked on the situation in Abra province, hours after the powerful earthquake struck parts of Luzon. “Nakalapag na po tayo sa Bangued, Abra. Nakausap na po natin si Abra Gov. Dominic Valera at Vice Gov. Maria Jocelyn Bernos. Nagpalabas na po tayo ng inisyal na P10 milyon cash para sa mga apektado ng lindol at dinideliver na po ng DSWD provincial office ang mahigit sa 1,000 food boxes para sa mga evacuees,” Tulfo said in a Facebook post. “Parating pa po ang higit P10,000 food packs mula sa CAR (Cordillera Administrative Region) regional warehouse mamayang hapon and additional cash assistance bukas ng umaga,” he added. Citing the report of Bernos, Tulfo said around 70 houses, 20 government buildings, and three bridges in Abra were damaged due to the earthquake.

The DSWD chief also conducted an aerial inspection to assess the extent of damage to Abra and nearby provinces. “Layunin ng aerial inspection ang pagsasagawa ng assessment sa sitwasyon ng lugar at mga kailangang tulong para sa mga residenteng naapektuhan ng lindol,” Tulfo said.
