Metro Manila, November 10 ------ The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that the validity of driver's licenses expiring in November 2023 onwards will be extended until April 2 next year. The schedule of renewal for driver's licenses expiring on April 1 to 30 will be not later than Nov. 6 this year, while May 1 to 31 will be not later than Nov. 30, and June 1-30 will not be later than Dec. 31, 2023. The LTO said there will be a corresponding penalty for drivers who will fail to renew their licenses.

It added that all on-hand driver's license card supplies will be exclusively used for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)/foreign driver's license conversion, diplomats and backlogs for this year. "There shall be no bulk printing of backlogs," LTO said, adding that the printing of a license could only be done in the LTO office where it is renewed.

“Hanggang Hunyo na backlog na lamang sa lisensiya ang mabibigyan ng plastic card," LTO said in another statement on Thursday. "Ito’y kaugnay ng pagpapalabas ng Writ of Preliminary Injunction sa supply ng driver’s license cards. Sa totoo lang nabusan na tayo ng card dahil sa injunction, diba?," LTO Chief Asst. Secretary Vigor Mendoza II told reporters. "Ngayon kasi, pag nag-apply ka ng card, kung ikaw expiring November, pwede namin bigyan ka ng card for November, no. But we will stop that, hindi na natin kakayanin,” LTO Chief Asst. Secretary Vigor Mendoza II told reporters.

“So yung April backlog, they were given until the end of October to get the cards," he added. "So itong November, we will cater to May, and then December, we will cater to June. So we will make that formal announcement. We're just getting the final numbers but because of the day-to-day consumption, hindi na natin make-cater.” he added.
