Donny Pangilinan honored anew as one of PeopleAsia’s ‘Men Who Matter’ 2026 awardees

MANILA, July 31 ------ Actor Donny Pangilinan was once again recognized as one of PeopleAsia’s “Men Who Matter” 2026 awardees, earning the distinction for his achievements in entertainment and his commitment to using his platform to make a positive impact on society. Receiving the honor for the second time, Pangilinan was cited following a successful year marked by streaming and box office hits, as well as his advocacy efforts.

Earlier this year, amid soaring fuel prices, the Pangilinan family’s gasoline station rolled back pump prices to help motorists, with the actor previously saying, “It’s not always about business.” Speaking after accepting the recognition, Pangilinan said he was deeply grateful and hoped the award would inspire others to realize their own worth. “I’m super honored, grateful and humble. I’m part of a group of men whom I really look up to. Sobrang nakaka-humble. I dedicate this award to everyone who thinks that they don’t matter and think that they don’t have any meaning in this life. As long as you are breathing and living and have a purpose, you matter.”

The actor also shared that while awards were never his primary motivation, the recognition serves as a reminder that his actions can positively influence others. “To be honest, it’s not something I am looking for. But I guess it matters because it reminds me that what I’m doing has an impact on other people and that people are inspired by it. Parang it’s worth it.”

Among those celebrating Pangilinan’s latest milestone was his mother, actress Maricel Laxa, who expressed pride in her son’s accomplishments. “I’m so proud of him, always.”

This year’s “Men Who Matter” honors also recognized leaders and changemakers from various fields, including Japan Ambassador Endo Kazuya, architect Carlo Calma, content creator Kyle “Kulas” Jennermann, and designer Joey Samson, alongside prominent business executives, healthcare leaders, and advocates for sustainability and food security.
