MANILA, March 18 ------ Businessman Anthony Pangilinan, father of Kapamilya star Donny Pangilinan, announced their family's decision to offer a diesel discount at their gasoline station to help motorists cope with rising oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East.

In a social media post on Monday, Anthony said they assessed the effect of fuel prices not only on their business but on the community. He said his son, who is their business partner, suggested lowering their station's diesel prices — a move which Anthony said: "didn't make sense 'numbers-wise' but was 100% in sync with our mission: support those who need it most in the community."

"We are reducing our prices for diesel products in our station in South Forbes and are absorbing part of the rising costs for the members of our community. The actual amounts are posted on the site," Anthony said. He said they would continue the discount "for as long as we are able."

On Monday, the Department of Energy said that diesel prices could rise up to P114 per liter this week, even as oil firms agreed to divide the big-time fuel price hikes set this week into smaller increases spread over several days.
