DOH reports 9,269 new COVID-19 recoveries

December 14 ------ The Philippines recorded 9,269 more patients who have recovered from COVID-19 on Sunday, raising the overall tally to 418,687. Based on the latest case bulletin, the recovery figure is 93.2 percent of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country—which currently stood at 449,4000. Only 21,980 are active cases or those who are still sick. Of these, 84.4 percent are in mild condition, 5.8 percent are asymptomatic, 6.3 percent are critical, 3.2 percent are severe, and 0.33 percent are moderate.

The DOH also confirmed 1,085 new infections on Sunday. Majority of the new cases were found in Quezon City with 103, Rizal province with 46, City of Makati with 44, City of Manila with 43, and City of Pasig with 39. Meanwhile, three fatalities were reported by the DOH, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 8,733. “Sixteen duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 14 were recovered cases,” the DOH said.

“Moreover, one case previously tagged as recovered was reclassified as death,” it added. The DOH once again appealed to the public to celebrate the holidays safely and abide strictly by the minimum health standards. “With constant sanitizing and physical distancing, we not only ensure the health and safety of our family and friends, but also provide our healthcare heroes the opportunity to celebrate with their families as well,” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
