DOH logs 870 new COVID-19 cases, 3.9% positivity rate

MANILA, Philippines, March 7 ------ The Department of Health (DOH) reported 870 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the second straight day that additional coronavirus infections were just over 800. The number of active COVID-19 cases dropped to 48,793, from the previous 49,374 on Saturday.

The DOH also reported 1,433 recoveries and 144 deaths. Overall, there have been 3,561,726 total recoveries and 57,023 deaths out of 3,667,542 confirmed cases of the disease in the country. Meanwhile, the positivity rate was at 3.9 percent, which is below the 5 percent threshold recommended by the World Health Organization. There were 24,543 individuals who got themselves tested for COVID-19 on Friday.
