Dingdong Dantes' amazing bond with his kids

October 17 ------ HOME is where Dingdong Dantes gets much of his hosting job done most especially for his weekend show Amazing Earth.

Save for a couple of episodes where GMA's Primetime King needs to hie off to some far-away destination across the country, Dingdong does his voiceover spiels comfortably at home. The actor admits that the best time to record his spiels is a bit late at night, "That's when the whole place is quiet. You hear no honking of cars, such sounds that can easily be picked up while recording is in progress."

At nightfall, Dingdong — in house clothes — sneaks out of the room with the voiceover script and locks himself up inside a separate area in the house. Oftentimes though, he catches sight of his kids Zia and Ziggy following him all the way to the recording room. "I thought you were already asleep, why are you here?" Dingdong would ask. And he'd always get the same answer: "They said they couldn't sleep so in ending, the kids will stay all throughout my recording session." This is the reason why Zia and Ziggy can afford to skip most episodes of his weekend infotainment show, "Even before an episode gets aired, they already get to watch it!" Not only has watching the show ahead of its airing date been the little ones' habit, Zia and Ziggy are also mimicking what their father does. "One time I caught them inside the recording room. I was surprised to hear them trying to imitate my voice. They were even holding a script!"Dingdong shares. The TV host-actor acknowledges the fact that for all his kids' quirky ways, watching and imitating him is one effective way of teaching them how to take care of the things around us, as featured in every episode of Amazing Earth. "Also, I believe leadership by example is just as important. Of course, it just doesn't take a day or two to get it done. As a parent, I need to constantly do it," Dingdong says of his real-life role.

Meanwhile, the A-list celebrity hardly thought Amazing Earth would notch its fifth year last July. In celebration of another successful year, Dingdong justifies its change of time slot "to develop a weekend habit of enjoying an enriching experience." With a wider reach now, even the young ones in school can afford to stay awake a bit late, "You know today's generation, most if not all of them are social media-savvy. At least, they can still allot time doing soc med after watching what other forms of life there are on our planet."
