Dickie Bachmann replaces Noli Eala as PSC chairman

December 29 ------ RICHARD 'Dickie' Bachmann has been named to replace Noli Eala as chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). The appointment letter of the former La Salle player and Alaska team manager and governor has already reached the PSC office, SPIN.ph learned on Wednesday.

Eala was replaced just four months after his appointment by Malacanang to head the government's sports agency, although rumors that he will be replaced broke out just weeks into his term. Sources said Eala's appointment was made by former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez, who had a falling out with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. soon after the latter's victory in the May elections.

Bachmann is currently in the US and has yet to issue a statement on his appointment. Like Eala who served as PBA commissioner, executive director of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), and sports head of SMC, Bachmann also has a deep background in sports administration.

Bachmann is currently the commissioner of the UAAP basketball tournament and chairman of the PBA 3x3, positions which he will most likely give up with his appointment at PSC. Bachmann also served as team governor of Alaska, the same team he played for during his PBA days, before the franchise was sold to Converge. He also holds a key position in the organizing committee of the 2023 Fiba World Cup which the country will co-host with Japan and Indonesia in late August.
