DepEd: 6,213 schools ready to implement face-to-face classes

March 1 ------ At least 6,213 schools nationwide are now ready to implement face-to-face classes, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones reported Tuesday, March 1. “Nagbilang na kami ng mga eskwelahan na pwedeng mag-implement ng face-to-face na ready na talaga sila according to our standards,” Briones said during President Rodrigo Duterte’s Talk to the Nation.

However, Briones noted that as of February, about 1,700 schools were already given the green light to implement limited in-person classes. “Ngayong nag-declare na tayo ng Alert Level 1, siguradong dadami [pa] yan,” she added.

Briones asked Duterte to “reduce protocols” required during face-to-face classes as the National Capital Region shifted to Alert Level 1. “Pwede na sigurong i-reduce yan. This Friday mag-usap ang Department of Health at tsaka ang DepEd para pag-usapan kung aling mga protocol ang pwedeng i-relax,” she added. “Kung kami ang matatanong, yung protocols baka pwedeng i-loosen up natin yung mga requirement.”
