March 4 ------ David Licauco made a strong impression in his debut appearance at HYROX Taipei, an international fitness competition, setting the fastest time for Filipino participants.

Licauco, who competed at the men’s open division, has proven his potential as an elite fitness competitor after finishing a total time of one hour, seven minutes, and 48 seconds (1:07:48). The sports event was held from Feb. 28 to March 1 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. The actor is also the second Filipino in the world on the overall Open Men’s Division. Out of the nearly 2,000 participants, Licauco ended his HYROX Taipei debut on the 53rd overall rank, and was on the 19th among the 30 -34 age group.

In a 24 Oras report, the “Maria Clara at Ibarra” star said his victorious stint at the fitness competition was the fruit of his labor. “Leading up to this event, nakakatuwa na meron akong something to look forward to, may reason kung bakit ako nagte-training. I’ve been training all my life [where] walang end goal ang competitiveness ko,” he said.

Licauco will compete at HYROX Hong Kong, which will be held at the AsiaWorld‑Expo in May. He is currently starring as Andrew in the action drama “Never Say Die.” HYROX is a hybrid fitness race that combines running and eight workout stations. Participants must run one kilometer and complete one workout station, whilst repeating the cycle the right times.
