‘Danger level’ heat index expected in 26 areas

May 27 ------ Twenty-six areas across the country are expected to have a “danger level” heat index on Tuesday, May 27, PAGASA said in a forecast.

 

Based on the state weather bureau’s May 25, 5 p.m. bulletin, the synoptic stations in the following areas will measure a 42°C to 45°C heat index:

Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite

Laoag City, Ilocos Norte

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

TAU Camiling, Tarlac

Infanta, Quezon

Daet, Camarines Norte

Masbate City, Masbate

Iloilo City, Iloilo

Guiuan, Eastern Samar

Iba, Zambales

PAGASA categorizes areas with a 42°C to 51°C heat index in the "danger" category, with a risk for heat stroke.

 

The Department of Health has advised persons who have prolonged sun exposure to drink as much as 10 glasses of water daily, with the heat index reaching up to a dangerous 50°C in some areas in the country.
