July 5 ------ Over the years, reality competitions have become one of the entertainment industry's most effective launching pads. They provide aspiring performers with invaluable exposure, introduce them to millions of viewers, and open doors that might otherwise remain closed. But as many successful artists have proven, making it into a competition is only the first step. What happens afterward depends largely on talent, discipline, and the willingness to keep learning.

No one understands that better than award-winning actress Cristine Reyes. Herself a product of a talent search, Cristine now serves as one of the judges and mentors on "Viva's Next Big Star," now streaming on Viva One. Cristine believes aspiring artists should never mistake early recognition for lasting success. "Tuloy-tuloy dapat ang development mo. Walang overnight na star. Pinagtratrabahuan 'yan," she emphasized.

For Cristine, constant improvement is what separates those who simply become known from those who build lasting careers. She also stressed the importance of remaining teachable, especially newcomers trying to establish themselves in the business. "Importante kasi lalo na kung baguhan ka to listen kasi kadalasan very useful ang mga payo na maririnig mo." Her advice comes from experience. "Alam naman ng lahat na ako nagsimula rin ako sa reality competition ang 'StarStruck.' Joining the contest is just the beginning talaga. Marami ka pang pagdadaanan along the way so kailangan buo ang loob mo."

Cristine now hopes to pass those hard-earned lessons as she helps guide a new generation of aspiring stars in "Viva's Next Big Star."
