November 7 ------ Children aged five to 11 are not yet eligible to receive a booster shot of Covid-19 vaccine, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
“Until now, booster shots are still not recommended by the Philippine government to our children five to 11 years old,” said DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire in a recent press briefing. Regulatory agencies in the country have yet to give clearance for the provision of booster shots for the said age group, said Vergeire.
“Even our experts, wala pa rin pong narerekomenda diyan,” she added. “We will be informing the public kung sakaling magkaroon tayo ng bagong polisiya na nirerekomenda na natin ang boosters for five to 11 pag sapat na ang ebidensya,” she furthered. DOH data showed that 5,231,460 children under the said age group were already fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
