January 17 ------ Asia's Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista went on a stroll down memory lane of his experience in Indonesia in the "Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel" podcast.
The Kapuso artist shared how he felt overwhelmed in the past and how he never thought that it would be his destiny as a singer. He also remembered how his career in the foreign country began with the news of his trip to Indonesia. "Naalala ko nga yung first time na sinabi nila na 'O, you are going to Indonesia kasi magpo-promote ka doon, kasi yung kanta mo kilala doon.' And it was before Spotify, Apple Music, and digital streaming, so medyo ang mga kaba ko ay 'kilala ba talaga ako doon, mata-type-an ba nila ako o mahihirapan ba ako?'" But Christian said his worries turned into fascination as he felt welcomed in the country. "Ang galing nga ng strategy e. Nilagay nila agad ako sa all girls' school event, so para siguro mas madali nang konti. Pagdating ko doon alam naman nila 'yung song, nakikanta naman sila, at I felt very welcomed agad and the rest was history," he said. Although his fame in Indonesia can't compare to his blooming career in the Philippines, the Kapuso star said he's still glad as he encountered several fans whenever they learned his name, since he is more popular on Indonesia's radio and streaming sites. He also added that he will thrive more this year to further introduce himself as a singer with the help of digital media. "We realized na parang we should do another push, you know, and so we are now collaborating like this, like with you, podcasts, Youtube collaborations, TikTok collaborations, and ito na 'yun, this is the world we live in," Christian said.
The Kapuso singer also mentioned that Indonesia has a special place in his heart as he continuously receives love and support from his Indonesian fans. Christian shared, "I go there for different kinds of shows, and ang napapansin ko sa Indonesians, talagang kapit sila kung kapit, talagang they stay with you for a long time."
