August 14 ------ CHEZKA Centeno fell one rack short of the Philippines’ first gold medal in the 2025 World Games, losing to Han Yu of China, 7-6, in the women’s 10-ball final in Chengdu, China. A scratch by Centeno after attempting a safety on the 1-ball proved costly as Han easily cleaned up the rack to take the gold medal.

Centeno was already up, 6-5, but Han forced hill-hill after the foul by the Filipina cue artist. Nevertheless, Centeno gave the Philippines its second silver medal of this year’s World Games following Kaila Napolis in the women’s ju-jitsu Ne-Waza 52kg. Carlos Baylon also won a bronze for the Philippines in the wushu sanda 56kg.

Centeno previously lost to Han in the preliminaries in Group C with the same scoreline, 7-6, but the Filipina was able to qualify for the next phase by beating American Savannah Easton, 7-2. Centeno beat Mayte Ropero of Spain, 7-2, in the quarterfinals, and Shasha Liu of China, 7-4, in the semifinals.
