MANILA, June 19 ------ Actress and former ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio has added another feather to her cap as one of the recipients of this year's Gawad Manileño, which honors outstanding individuals and companies from the City of Manila.
She was given the Natatanging Manileño sa Larangan ng Pag-arte sa Pelikula, recognizing her contributions to the local movie industry. She personally received the award on stage during the awarding ceremony at the Metropolitan Theater in Ermita, Manila on Monday.
In an Instagram post, Santos-Concio shared memories of her life in the City of Manila. "My family and I laid our educational foundations in Manila, and watching the city evolve over the decades fills me with nostalgia. I fondly remember strolling the bustling streets, watching movies in theaters, and spending Sundays with my family at San Sebastian Church," she said. "These cherished memories capture the essence of being a Manileño: education, family, community, and the vibrant city life," she added, thanking Gawad Manileño and Manila mayor Honey Lacuna for the recognition.
Santos-Concio has won multiple awards for her movies such as "Kun Maupay Man It Panahon," "Ang Babaeng Humayo," and "Itim." She is known to many as the host of the defunct ABS-CBN drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya." Currently, she stars in the Kapamilya series "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" alongside Coco Martin.
