MANILA, October 1 ------ Two-time World Pool champion Carlo Biado and World No. 1 Fedor Gorst are set to renew their rivalry, this time as team captains in the 2025 Reyes Cup, named after Filipino pool icon Efren "Bata" Reyes.

Last month, Biado and Gorst faced off in the World Pool Championship final where Biado came out on top and made history for the Philippines. The elite cue artists will cross paths again as team captains of Team Asia and the newly formed formidable opponent Team Rest of the World in the global clash.

World No. 3 Biado will lead Team Asia for this edition of the Reyes Cup, following his historic victory in Jeddah. Biado is motivated to lead the defending champions Team Asia on home soil. "I’m so proud to be back for the Reyes Cup, this time as a top-ranked qualifier,” he said. “Winning the World Championship gave me so much confidence, and to now represent Team Asia again, in front of our home fans in Manila, is very special. Facing Fedor again will be exciting, I’m ready for another big battle.”

The top-ranked Gorst will be the frontrunner for Team Rest of the World, and this is after he reached the World Pool Championship and US Open finals. The upcoming trip to the Philippines marks a first for Gorst. "It feels incredible to qualify as World Number One and to make my Reyes Cup debut. This is such a huge event for our sport, and I can’t wait to lead Team Rest of the World into battle. We know Team Asia will be strong, but I believe we have what it takes to make history in Manila," he said.

Two more names for each team will be revealed after the Hanoi Open happening from October 7 to 12, with two wildcard selections completing the squads. For the first time, elite cue artists across the globe, including Europe, the Americas, Oceania and more, will unite as part of Team Rest of the World.

Team Asia on the other hand, will once again include the top three ranked Asian players in the World Nineball Tour rankings alongside two wildcards. The 2025 Reyes Cup will take place from October 16 to 19 at the iconic Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
