Carla Abellana is moving on and thriving

November 14 ------ Carla Abellana is every bit the confident leading lady when she faced the media to promote her upcoming afternoon series, "Stolen Life."

Starring with equally gorgeous Beauty Gonzalez, the two leading ladies play dual roles they've never done before. "Stolen Life" follows the story of two cousins, Lucy and Farrah, who turned bitter rivals. They both know how to do astral projection, where the soul leaves one's body during sleep and can travel on its own. Through astral projection, Lucy (Abellana) meets the dashing and doting Darius (Gabby Concepcion).

Unfortunately, it is also through their special ability that Farrah (Gonzalez) will be able to steal Darius from Lucy. Farrah switches bodies from her and lives the life she always dreamt of, while Lucy is trapped in Farrah's body and must overcome many obstacles. Apart from being a calm and affectionate woman, Abellana will also show off her villainous side this time. Meanwhile, Gonzalez sticks to her fierce and feisty role but also portrays a piteous wife in the series. At the media conference, Abellana humbly admitted she was at first hesitant to play the role of Lucy. "It was because I wasn't sure at first if I could give this role justice. But everyone convinced me and I was also looking forward to work with director Jerry Sineneng for the first time also, so I said yes." "And when we were already shooting the series, I felt that it was a good release. Lucy is challenging to play but there are many times that I also enjoyed playing her bad side," she added. Besides interest in her comeback project, Abellana also answered questions from the media regarding her personal life. Glowing and radiating positive aura, the actress said she finds more time for herself these days. "I have lots of time and energy now that I can spend on myself. If I need or want something, I give it to myself, it feels nice to be able to do that." Abellana was in a relationship with actor Tom Rodriguez before they tied the knot in October 2021. However, three months later, news of their separation surfaced.

In June 2022, Rodriguez — who is a US citizen — filed for a divorce. Giving an update on their status, Abellana said on the sidelines of the media conference, "Our status is divorced in the US. Here in the Philippines, the petition for local court to recognize that status is still on going. It's technically divorce but here in the country it's not annulment. There's no need to file for the latter as the Philippine law can recognize that foreign decree." Abellana is noticeably more open these days to answer questions regarding her separation from Rodriguez. "I'm already in that position that I can already give answers to those questions. I'm not comfortable to talk about it but at least, I can do it now. It just shows I'm over it, I have moved on." Looking forward, Abellana said that while she is not yet ready to jump to another relationship, she is not closing her doors. "Whatever God plans for me. I just want to go with the flow," she ended. "Stolen Life," under the helm of director Jerry Sineneng, will premier on November 16, 3:20 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime and Pinoy Hits.
