March 16 ------ “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” premiered last October, bringing together 20 Gen Z artists from GMA’s Sparkle and ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. After months of challenges and nominations, the season culminated last Feb. 28.

Taking home the title of Big Winners were Lella Ford (Star Magic) and Caprice Cayetano (Sparkle), the daughter of celebrity chef Jorge Mendez, Cibo’s executive chef and creative director. Securing the second-place spots were Krystal Mejes (Star Magic) and Heath Jornales (Sparkle), the son of actor and stunt director Michael Roy Jornales.

I recently had the chance to catch up with our cute and charismatic Kapuso winners, first placer Caprice and runner-up Heath, better known to fans as “CapHeath.” Between their undeniable talent and face cards that never decline, these two definitely have the “it” factor. We sat down to talk about their journey inside the most famous house in the country.

How did you end up in ‘PBB’? Did you have any reservations about entering the house?

Caprice: “I am a big fan of the ‘PBB Collab’ edition one, and I felt that it was exciting to be a housemate. So, I auditioned, and at first I thought I was not accepted, but I was given a second chance, and fortunately, I made it.”

Heath: “I auditioned po. I was asked if I’m interested, and I immediately said yes. Luckily, I got in.”

What was your experience like inside the House of Kuya? What was the most difficult? Most fun? Most challenging?

Caprice: “I always wanted to be independent. So, na-enjoy ko po talaga sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya. Four months na, housemates lang ang mga kasama ko sa loob. Cooking our food, cleaning the house, doing tasks, etc… naisip ko na mahirap din pala maging independent. But it was fun all in all kasi marami po akong natutunan sa mga experiences ko inside the house and through interactions I had with the housemates. Masaya din ako na dumami po mga kaibigan ko. I made 19 new friends inside, and we treated each other as family. Yung mga tasks lang are sometimes challenging. It will really test your limits.”

Heath: “It was all fun for me inside the ‘PBB’ house. I enjoyed everything we did, even the toughest tasks assigned to us. It was only difficult when you were nominated (for eviction). I was nominated four times, and the saddest part is when I saw my friends go out. Naiiyak po talaga ako minsan, especially if I was close to that person who got evicted.”

What valuable lessons did you learn while you were inside the ‘PBB’ house?

Caprice: “Marami po akong natutunan inside. The values of cooperation and pakikisama, teamwork, how to handle pressure, living independently and being responsible for your actions. It’s all part of growing, and I like the word I chose, which is ‘paglago’ ‘cause through the experiences I had inside the ‘PBB’ house, I feel na somehow I achieved yung “paglago” (to flourish).”

Heath: This was my motto inside the house which my dad told me: ‘Never back down, never give up.’ Though life may be hard, you just have to keep on pushing until you get to your goals. I hope I can carry this on outside.”

What did you miss most while you were inside the ‘PBB’ house, and why?

Caprice: “My parents. They are my constants in life, especially my mom who is my best friend. Sometimes, I feel like I’m inside the house na sana andito si mommy. So, I can tell her everything that I feel after the day, just like before I entered ‘PBB.’ Daddy, because he gives me comfort and stability every time I feel scared and lonely.”

Heath: “Of course, my family. Mom, Dad, and my two sisters. I missed our bonding, no matter how crazy we are sometimes, but we are all happy when we are together. And of course, Max (golden retriever) and Wolfie (husky), my two beautiful dogs. I missed playing with them.”

What are your plans after ‘PBB’?

Caprice: “I really miss acting. So, sana po may show na ako para po makapag-taping na ako ulit. Kung ano po yung mga natutunan ko sa loob ng ‘PBB,’ gagamitin ko. I just want to work again.”

Heath: “Marami po akong naiisip. Acting, singing, doing songs, martial arts, hanging out with friends. Hindi ko pa alam kung ano uunahin ko.”

What was your most unforgettable experience in the ‘PBB’ house?

Caprice: “Yung sa Big Night po. Nakakakaba talaga siya. To be on that stage kasi di ko po talaga in-expect na makakarating ako roon, tapos nung naging Big Winner pa ako. Sobrang saya talaga for me. Seeing the fans cheering our names, I had no idea na marami na po kaming fans pala.”

How did your family and friends react to your winning?

Caprice: “Of course, si Dad po yung una kong nakita sa stage, and he was very pleased, but I saw the whole family sa audience na super saya rin nila. Seeing them all happy for me. They also had a welcome for me after the Big Night, and I hugged all of them when I saw them.”

Heath: “Super proud and happy yung family ko. No one expected me to be on that stage, but I made them proud of me. We had a quiet celebration at home with my family and friends, and we stayed up till sunrise just sharing stories and making me feel at home again.”

What will you do with your P1M prize money?

Caprice: “I am donating a part of my prize money to a charitable institution that helps kids with cancer. I feel the need to give back whatever blessings the Lord gave me, and gusto ko pong i-share yung panalo ko sa mga nangangailangan. I want to impart to them my personal moto, ‘Always look on the bright side.’”

Heath: “Since I’m still a minor, I just want to give it to my parents first. They handle all my savings naman.”
