Calvin Abueva comeback delayed by a calf injury

December 1 ------ CALVIN Abueva’s comeback has been further delayed by a calf iinjury. Magnolia coach Chito Victolero said that Abueva has suffered a strained calf muscle that will force him to miss more games in the 48th season Commissioner’s Cup. Abueva has not played in the Hotshots' first four games of the season after undergoing surgery to remove hemorrhoids prior to the season. The 35-year-old Abueva has already practiced upon his recovery from the surgery but was grounded again, this time by a calf injury.

This is not the first time that Abueva suffered a calf injury. A similar injury during the 46th season PBA Governors’ Cup in February 2022 kept him out for seven games. The Hotshots, at least, are in no rush to bring the 'Beast' back. With import Tyler Bey an alpha male of an import, Magnolia racked up wins in its first four games of the season to occupy solo first place in the standings with a 4-0 win-loss slate.

The Hotshots are scheduled to face NLEX on Friday in a bid to keep their unbeaten record.
