MANILA, May 9 ------ All 44 airports operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) are on heightened alert due to the expected surge of passengers ahead of the national and local elections on May 12. "Enhanced airport operations will be in place from May 9 to 13, following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.," the CAAP announced.
It added that help desks would be set up across airports. "All airport managers are directed to implement 24/7 operations and direct communication lines to ensure the safety, security, reliability, and comfort of the passengers," it said.
The CAAP, meanwhile, advised passengers to arrive at the airport ahead of their scheduled flights, monitor airline advisories, and adhere to airport safety protocols to ensure smooth and stress-free travel.
