Blu Girls intensify training for Women's Softball World Cup

June 21 ------ With the support of Cebuana Lhuillier, the Philippine women’s softball team is leaving no stone unturned as it gears up for the Women’s Softball World Cup.

To prepare for the biggest women’s softball tournament in the world, the Blu Girls will undergo an intensive training program in Japan. During a recent courtesy call to Cebuana Lhuillier president and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier, members of the national women's softball team expressed their readiness to go up against the best softball nations in the world.

The Blu Girls are set to compete in the World Cup Group Stage from July 14 to 18 in Lima, Peru where the Philippines collide with formidable teams in Group C such as No. 1 Japan, No. 3 Puerto Rico, Great Britain, Venezuela and host nation Peru. The Japan training camp is expected to provide the Blu Girls with valuable opportunities to sharpen their skills, strengthen team chemistry, and gain exposure to a highly competitive softball environment.

Known as one of Asia's powerhouse teams, Japan offers an ideal setting for the Philippine team to elevate its level of play ahead of the World Cup. The initiative was made possible through the unwavering support of Lhuillier whose sustained dedication and commitment to Philippine softball has played a significant role in the growth of not only the Blu Girls, but also the Blu Boys. "For years, the Blu Girls have demonstrated what Filipino athletes are capable of when given the opportunity to train, compete, and represent the country at the highest level. As they prepare for another World Cup campaign, it is our responsibility to ensure they have the support they need to succeed," said Lhuillier, who is also president of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asa-Phil). "This courtesy call is a reminder that our work goes beyond sending teams to competitions. It is about investing in their journey, providing meaningful opportunities for development, and standing beside them every step of the way."

Under Lhuillier's leadership, Asa-Phil has continued to prioritize athlete development through sustained support, international exposure, and grassroots initiatives to strengthen the country's softball program. As the 13th-ranked team in the world, the Blu Girls will look to capitalize on the experience gained from their international exposure and training as they aim to make a strong showing against some of the sport's top-ranked nations in July.
