April 13 ------ Another international recognition awaits BINI as they’re set to be declared a Global Force honoree by Billboard at its upcoming Women in Music ceremony, making them the second Filipina to be recognized by the international music publication.

The female octet was recognized by Billboard on Saturday, April 11, hours before their historic debut at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, joining a crop of record-breaking female artists in the music scene. Also recognized for the Global Force plum is The Beaches, a Canadian rock band composed of Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl, and Eliza Enman-McDanie.

Other awardees include the singing voices behind HUNTR/X or EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami (Women of the Year); Ella Langley (Powerhouse); Kehlani (Impact); Laufey (Innovator); Mariah the Scientist (Rising Star); Tate McRae (Hitmaker); Teyana Taylor (Visionary); Thalia (Icon); and Zara Larsson (Breakthrough).

The ceremony will be streamed live on the platform’s website and official YouTube channel from the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California, on April 29. Additional details are yet to be announced.

BINI is the second Filipino awardee to be named a Global Force by Billboard, after Sarah Geronimo in 2024, and the first Filipino group to receive the distinction. Billboard Philippines — the Filipino branch of the music publication — recently awarded BINI the Powerhouse award in the 2026 installment of its Women in Music ceremony last March. In their acceptance speech, the group’s leader, Jhoanna, reflected on how they realized that success shouldn’t be measured by numbers, but instead by choosing to move forward despite hardships.

“Hindi ‘yan sa dami ng sumisigaw sa’yo; hindi ‘yan sa laki ng followers; wala ‘yan d’un. It’s about consistency, it’s about showing up every day kahit mahirap. It’s about creating songs even when no one is listening. It’s about keeping [it] going, and it’s about standing strong, especially as women in this industry,” she said.

The girl group also brought home Billboard Philippines’ Women of the Year and Rising Star awards in 2025 and 2024, respectively. The P-pop girl group recently made history as the first Filipino homegrown act to perform at Coachella, where they delivered a set of their hit songs and fan favorites at the Mojave Tent.

Formed by ABS-CBN, BINI is composed of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena, and they debuted in June 2021. Some of their biggest hits include “Pantropiko,” “Salamin, Salamin,” “Lagi,” and “I Feel Good.” /edv
