December 17 ------ When Bianca de Vera found out that she would be the lead star of a film, she broke down in tears at the Star Cinema office. At the time, she initially thought that she was in trouble. It turned out that it was an answered prayer.

“I have been waiting for this for a long time. We were supposed to do a project before [with Star Cinema] pero hindi pa time ni God n’un,” she said during a Star Magic spotlight press conference. “Hindi siya natuloy and for a time, I was heartbroken. [But I realized] that God has his own timing.”

De Vera is the lead star of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 entry “Love You So Bad,” where she plays Savannah, who “falls in love” with LA (Dustin Yu) and Vic (Will Ashley). While her mother believes that they both have “bad taste in men,” she is hopeful that she will get together with someone she truly deserves. “Savannah is really, really brave. She is very persistent. Grabe ang puso niya,” she said of her character, although she remained mum on whom she would choose by the end of the film. “Nakakarelate ako kay Savannah na when she loves, she gives a hundred percent of herself.”

The love triangle between de Vera, Ashley, and Yu is the focal point of the film, but the actress is happy that people are rooting for her character to choose herself. “Nakakatuwa naman [that people see it in that way], and they want Savannah to choose herself din,” she said, adding that the MMFF 2025 entry talks about the “rollercoaster” journey between the three of them as well.

“We talk about [the pressure] every day. But you know, we always say that pressure is good because it means na may pake kami, and hindi kami kampante. The mere fact na nakapasok kami sa MMFF alongside sina Vice, Angelica, and all of these veteran actors, it’s such a win for us. That alone is such a blessing,” she continued.

Since de Vera admitted that she shares similarities with Savannah, she doesn’t feel pressured to live up to the expectations of choosing between Ashley and Yu. After all, the actress believes that love will come at the right time, and she is focused on herself. “Lahat naman may kanya-kanyang preference, nape-pressure ba ako? Hindi naman ako na-pressure pumili,” she said of the apparent love triangle between herself, Ashley, and Yu. “I’m not in the state of mind to choose at the moment because I think everyone is aware and everyone knows that pinipili ko ang career ko. I think love will come soon, and I can make decisions myself,” she said. /edv
