June 12 ------ BGYO, the boy group dubbed the "Aces of P-pop," is ushering in a new chapter in their musical journey with the release of their latest EP, "On Demand," a project that has been years in the making and showcases the group’s growth as artists and performers.
Member Mikki said the EP traces its roots back to an ABS-CBN music camp attended by him and fellow member Nate in 2024, where they collaborated with international songwriters and producers to create a collection of songs that would eventually be divided into multiple releases. “Matagal na namin itong sinimulan actually,” Mikki said. “When me and Nate went to the ABS-CBN music camp back in 2024, we made a whole bunch of songs na nasa archives lang namin. Dinivide namin siya into different EPs.”
The singer revealed that several tracks featured on "On Demand" — which came out last June 4 — were developed over a long period, with the group carefully planning the timing and strategy of the release alongside management and their record label.
Among the songs included in the EP are newer recordings such as "Life’s Too Short" and "Raindrops," while tracks like "Trono" had been completed years ago but were intentionally held back until the right moment. “We really waited for the right time to release 'Trono,'” Mikki said, adding that some songs underwent post-production changes, including the addition of Tagalog lyrics to better reflect the group’s identity.
The release has already been met with a positive response from fans, known collectively as Aces. “Super happy kasi sobrang bilis,” said JL. “Hindi naman mangyayari 'yun kundi dahil sa Aces. Saya namin na ang ganda ng feedback. Lahat talaga daw walang tapon dun sa songs, and 'yun din naman talaga 'yung goal namin bago pa namin i-release 'yung EP.”
To celebrate the launch, BGYO is set to embark on a mall tour, bringing their music directly to supporters across the country. “Pupunta kami sa malls, dun 'yung mall tour namin,” JL said. For Akira, the upcoming tour is an opportunity to connect with fans who may not always have the chance to attend the group’s events. “Very excited po siyempre kasi makakalibot ulit kami and mami-meet namin 'yung mga Aces na hindi masyado nakakapunta sa ibang ganap namin kasi malalayo,” he said. “Parang in a way kami 'yung pupunta sa kanila. Very happy and excited to perform in front of them.”
Beyond the success of "On Demand," BGYO remains focused on achieving bigger milestones, including their long-term dream of making a mark on the international stage. “We’re always pushing, no matter what,” Nate said. “Lagi naman may pressure, even from ourselves, because we want to reach a very high level. To be able to do that, we have to keep grinding.”
Gelo echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that while global recognition remains the group’s ultimate goal, they also want to earn the support of Filipinos first. “I think ang goal talaga namin is to go global,” he said. “Pero importante sa amin na bago kami mag-global, mahalin din kami ng buong Pilipinas. Gusto rin namin maiwan na marka bilang BGYO, kami 'yung grupo na hindi takot mag-take risks, mag-grow, at mag-share ng kung ano mang totoo sa amin through our music and performances.”
