Besides 24-point outing, Tots Carlos stands out to start Creamline’s semis run

August 6 ------ Tots Carlos shone the brightest in Creamline’s four-set win over Army-Black Mamba. But it’s definitely not just because of her 24-point outburst that gave the Cool Smashers their first win in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference semifinals.

Carlos returned to the Ynares Center in Antipolo sporting a bright pink which perfectly complemented the franchise’s colorway. When asked about the change, the 24-year-old opposite spiker said that she simply wanted to try something different. “Maiba naman. Wala trip ko lang,” said Carlos, whose last visit to Antipolo resulted in a PVL Open Conference title and a Most Valuable Player award.

Creamline overcame a blunder in the second set to come out with a 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17 victory, sending Army closer to elimination in the finals race. “Just like what coach said, yun yung parang inaano namin. Tinitraining din ba yung mentally recover kapag nakukuhaan ng set or ng points. Nangyari na e, so we just have to focus on what’s next, yun lang.” The win placed the Cool Smashers at the second spot with three points off a 1-0 standing.

Carlos said that the team is not thinking of the possibilities ahead as they are set to take things one game at a time. “Ganun talaga sabi nga ni coach we always have to adjust sa situation na nangyayari sa present. Hindi naman pwede isipin lahat ng games namin sa isang araw. Kung ano yung nandiyan yun muna isipin namin.”
