April 10 ------ Ben&Ben’s reimagined version of “Lifetime” — which talks about “grieving for a love that didn’t exist” — continues to break listeners’ hearts, as it reached high spots on the Spotify charts. “Lifetime” reached the fourth spot on Spotify Philippines Daily Top Songs chart and debuted on the music platform’s Top Songs Debut – Global, their label Sony Music announced in a press statement.
The milestone led Ben&Ben to reclaim the title of Spotify’s top-charting OPM group in the Philippines after two years. Aside from Spotify, the revived track also topped the Genius Lyrics charts, a platform where global listeners turn for song lyrics.
Released on March 31, “Lifetime” is a reworked version of the 2020 song of the same name. The updated version doubles down on its portrayal of unspoken feelings, missed opportunities, and the pain of not taking a budding romance to the next level. Twin brothers Miguel and Paolo Benjamin co-wrote the song, while the latter co-produced the track with Jean Paul Verona.
One of its most gut-wrenching highlights is the addition of the line, “How do you grieve for a love that did not even exist?” “For this version of ‘Lifetime,’ we felt that we could be there for someone in their pain, longing, and yearning through these new lyrics and melodies,” the band said. “There’s a deep sense of gratefulness in our hearts for how people have received the song so far. We’re very humbled, and we promise to keep working hard in writing and performing music that connects deeply with Liwanag, our listeners.”
The song experienced a renaissance on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, with fans creating video edits of “almost couples” set to the song
