MANILA, Philippines, September 12 ------ “Kontrabida Academy,” the latest Filipino comedy-drama from Netflix, drops today, September 11, streaming worldwide on the entertainment platform.

Starring Barbie Forteza and Eugene Domingo, the film follows Gigi (Forteza), a restaurant worker who is mysteriously transported into a school for on-screen villains led by headmistress Mauricia (Domingo). There, she discovers a new sense of purpose — and a clever way to get back at her real-life enemies.

Netflix describes the film as “soapy, campy” and rooted in “magical realism,” offering a tongue-in-cheek twist on teleserye tropes. Directed by Chris Martinez, “Kontrabida Academy” also features Jameson Blake, Michael De Mesa, Ysabel Ortega, Xyriel Manabat, Carmina Villarroel, and Yasser Marta.

An all-black launch party takes place tonight at a Makati hotel to celebrate the proudly Filipino Netflix production, which is also available with English dubbing and subtitles in several other languages.
