September 17 ------ AURORA Gaming remained at the top of the standings with an impressive 6-1 win-loss record after beating AP.Bren and Smart Omega in Week 4 of the MPL Philippines Season 16. The first half of the season closed with Aurora looking as good as advertised, finishing strong with back-to-back wins.

Fans witnessed another action-filled week with Aurora proving why they remain the team to beat. Aurora pulled off a decisive 2-0 sweep over AP.Bren, with Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo stealing the spotlight with the first-ever Savage recorded in MPL Philippines Season 16.

In Game 1, Aurora stamped its dominance and crushed AP.Bren with an 11-3 kill score while locking down objectives and building a huge gold lead. Yue’s Kimmy proved lethal, sealing Aurora’s victory with a Savage and a 5-1-5 KDA performance. Aurora showed no signs of slowing down in Game 2, maintaining map control and relentless pressure despite AP.Bren’s valiant efforts.

On the frontlines, Dylan “Light” Catipon on Gatotkaca stood firm with a 1-1-11 KDA. While they swept AP.Bren, Aurora Gaming gamely took on the challenge of a gritty Smart Omega squad, taking a hard-fought 2-1 victory to close out the first half of the regular season in style with six consecutive wins.

The opening match turned into a tense duel between Aurora and Smart Omega, but it was Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto on Yi Sun Shin who pulled off a backdoor play to secure the win. Dominic “Domengkite” Del Mundo showcased his Granger mastery, securing a triple kill in the final Lord clash and earning MVP honors with a stellar 6-1-3 KDA. However, Smart Omega refused to back down without a fight and turned Game 2 into a different story with a 16-3 kill score.

Czedrick “SUPERYOSHI” Panique on Grock led the Smart Omega to tie the series at 1-1 with a 3-1-11 KDA. Smart Omega held strong in Game 3, but Aurora was too much to handle and sealed the deal during the 20-minute base turret siege. With a 6-1 record, Aurora stayed ahead of World Champions ONIC Philippines and Team Liquid Philippines who are both toting a 5-2 record.
