Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jon Chu seek for Filipino ‘For Good’ duets

September 9 ------ “Wicked” filmmaker Jon Chu, as well as its lead stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, are hosting an open call for the best Filipino singers who can perform a duet of “For Good.”
In a press release, Universal Pictures Philippines announced an open call for three pairs of Filipino singers who can sing their rendition of “For Good.” Interested applicants can post their renditions of the song on TikTok from September 15 to October 5. Audition stations will also be set up at SM Mall of Asia, SM Lanang, SM City Iloilo, and SM Seaside Cebu.
Three pairs will then be chosen by Chu, Erivo, and Grande as the winners. According to the production company, the winning pairs will have a chance to be part of a music video, win an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore, and meet the cast of the hit film.
Chu also announced the open call on Universal Pictures Philippines’ social media platforms on Monday, Sept. 8. “We’ve seen so many of your gorgeous renditions and are moved by your talent… We want to continue celebrating your love for the music of ‘Wicked.’ ‘Wicked: For Good’ is a heartwarming ode to friendship that tells the story of [how] Elphaba and Glinda have profoundly changed each other’s lives,” he added.
“For Good” is one of the musical’s most popular songs, which puts the spotlight on Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship. The song was performed was both witches before their tearful goodbye and parting ways for good. “Wicked: For Good” is the sequel to the 2024 film, which revolves around Act Two of the 2003 musical. It also stars Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Marissa Bode. The musical film will premiere in Philippine theaters on November 19.
