Anne Curtis to celebrate birthday with OFWs on 'It''s Showtime'

MANILA, February 21 ------ Anne Curtis' birthday celebration on "It's Showtime" will be a day for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the noontime show host revealed.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe, Curtis said it was a full circle moment for her to do a number with the OFWs. Curtis was branded as the "Dyosa ng OFWs" after her banter with co-host Vice Ganda about her birthday. "Tuwang-tuwa ako lalo na sa pinakamamahal nating mga OFW na talaga namang gumagawa ng mga videos. Ang tatalino ng mga ginagawa nila, nakakaaliw. Sobra akong nagpapasalamat sa kanila na naki-celebrate sila. Hindi man sila nakauwi para sa birthday ko, they still celebrated with me," the "It's Showtime" host said. "From a sobrang joke, it became such a memorable birthday because of them, so thank you. Now it's an event on Saturday, may in-inivite rin ako na mga OFW," she added.

Curtis was not able to celebrate on the exact day of her birthday as she watched "The Eras Tour" concert of Taylor Swift, sharing how she felt to be in good company during her special day. "It was so much fun, sobra akong na-starstruck talaga. I was trying to take a video, I was trying to Zoom it in, pero sobra akong nanginginig, may ganoon siyang effect talaga. She's such a sweetheart. Sobra akong nag-enjoy na gusto kong manood ulit, ganoon 'yung feeling." Curtis said. "Everyone who's at her concert makes an effort. Wou see so many sequins, you see so many tassels, you see bodysuits, cowboy boots, lahat talaga nag-eeffort. Ganoon 'yung effect na she's able to bring so many people together, may bigayan ng friendship bracelets. It such a nice community to have," she added.

Right after she came back, Curtis was able to give back right away after she promised to pay for the ticket of a contestant who has an OFW parent. "Whenever it's a kid, I always have a soft spot talaga dealing with children ... talk about the irony of it all, this running joke of OFWs coming home from my birthday. I met Princess yesterday, who is a contestant, and she just misses her Papa so much, her dad so much, who is an OFW in Dubai and thankfully, we are able to speak to him and plan when he's coming home," Curtis said.  "It just felt right to be in that moment with her, to see how much he misses her Papa and I believe in paying it forward, so why not? If I'm able to pay it forward, if I see that opportunity then I'll certainly will do it," she added. Asked for her birthday wish, Curtis said: "Just to stay happy and healthy that's for my own personal wish and for everyone else good health and happiness this year, I think that's so important ... and tickets to go home for those who talagang nami-miss ang kanilang pamilya."
