September 29 ------ Filipino bet Anita Rose Gomez was adjudged first runner-up in the national costume competition of the 2025 Miss Asia Pacific International pageant.
The 43 delegates showcased their respective countries’ culture in the competition held at Sequoia Manila Bay in Parañaque City on Saturday evening, Sept. 27. Gomez paraded her “Pearl of the Orient Seas” costume, a pearl-studded jumpsuit with an ornate headdress and a massive “shell” back piece. But it was Thailand’s Bowonrat Maneerat who stole the show with her traditional attire and accompanying props of the Thai landscape, elevating her presentation with ballet dance moves. Canada’s Naomi Shotlander rounded up the Top 3 by placing second runner-up with her costume inspired by the mesmerizing Aurora Borealis.
Several other special awards were handed out during the event, with Gomez taking home the Miss Mestiza and Miss Zen Institute titles. India’s Danube Kangjam also got two special awards, the Jack Up In Style Choice and the Miss Multimedia titles.
Reigning Miss Asia Pacific International Janelis Leyba from the United States, who opened the program with her second runner-up, Selena Ali from Belgium, was a member of the judging panel for the national costume competition.
The 2025 Miss Asia Pacific International delegates will fly to Cebu for the succeeding events and activities, including the coronation night on Oct. 8. Gomez will try to become the sixth Filipino woman to receive the title.
