Angeline Quinto grateful as she looks back on her 15 years in showbiz

July 20 ------ Angeline Quinto said she is grateful that she had not given up on her dreams of becoming a singer and performer despite the struggles that she faced at the start of her journey.
Looking back on her 15 years in show business, Quinto reminisced about nearly giving up on a shot at a showbiz career after a number of stumbling blocks along her way, including when her family got overwhelmed by debts that caused them to lose their house and lot in Sampaloc, Manila, and when her adoptive mother, Mama Bob, was stricken by illness and eventually died.
Quinto admitted that not winning in her first talent competition gave her a feeling of discouragement, but she did not stop believing in herself and in God. She first joined Star for a Night, the TV talent competition hosted by Regine Velasquez in 2003, becoming one of the grand finalists, and then Star Power with Sharon Cuneta in 2011, where she was the champion.
“Nung nanalo po ako sa Star Power nung 2011, nabayaran ko lahat,” she said during a media conference for her upcoming anniversary concert this August.
Now one of the most successful and in-demand singers of her generation, the Power Diva wants to become an inspiration to all as someone who did not give up on her dreams.
So gamitin natin yon,” she added in jest.
Quinto is celebrating her 15 years in show business with an anniversary concert called “Aquinse,” on August 22 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with guests Erik Santos, Drag Race Philippines stars Precious Paula Nicole, Viñas Deluxe, and Brigiding, Skusta Clee, and the Baby Dolls from “It’s Showtime”.
The “Patuloy ang Pangarap” singer said mounting this concert is a fulfillment of one of her dreams and a celebration of her life’s milestones. She said each song in her repertoire holds a special place in her heart as they represent a moment in her life.
At the mediacon, Quinto was asked what her favorite song at the moment was, and she said it was “Til I Met You,” popularized by Kuh Ledesma in 1982, as it reminds her of her husband, Nonrev Daquina, and their two children, Sylvio and Sylvia.
