October 16 ------ The iconic barkada of “Bagets” is back — this time to conquer the theater stage. Four decades after the 1984 film defined youth culture for a generation, “Bagets The Musical” is bringing the story of friendship, growing pains, and self-discovery to life at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in 2026.

Andres Muhlach, the son of original “Bagets” star Aga Muhlach, will portray Adie, the character that first launched his father to fame. “It’s a surreal feeling. Honestly, it’s a full circle moment for me. I’m blessed to say I got the chance to play his character Adie in the musical,” Andres said in a press conference. “He’s overall excited for me. He wants to see all of us as a cast are gonna do this altogether,” he added.

The younger Muhlach, who has appeared in television series such as “Ang Mutya ng Section E” and “Da Pers Family,” said theater demands a different level of commitment. “Even the preparation and workshops are unlike what we do for filming, but we’re learning along the way,” he said. “Some of us already have theater experience, but it’s really about building our bond. The chemistry we share as an ensemble is important, and we try to bring that to the stage,” he added.

Meanwhile, sharing the role of Adie is Mico Hendrix Chua, who said he is both honored and challenged by the task. “These are big shoes to fill. But I’ll take it as a challenge and I’ll do my best to put a modern mix to it. At the same time, I will keep the essence of the role I’m playing,” Chua said.
