Metro Manila, August 20 ------ Alex Eala will not be seeing action in the US Open which is set to start later this month. "Unfortunately, I won't be in the US Open this year,".
The 18-year-old tennis champion said she is flying soon to Asia to compete in Japan and the 19th Asian Games scheduled to begin next month in China. "My schedule is set on other things. I'll be heading to Asia very soon, a couple of tournaments in Japan and the Asian Games in China. Those are going to be my priorities right now," she said.
Eala previously won the US Open girls' singles title in 2022, making her the first Filipino to capture a junior grand slam. The 2023 US Open will run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 10 in New York, USA.
