MANILA, October 21 ------ Alex Eala brings with her a new career-best ranking ahead of her return to action in the WTA250 Guangzhou Open on Tuesday after she improved to World No. 53. Despite her early exit in the WTA250 Kinoshita in Japan, the 20-year-old Eala still managed to jump a place higher from her previous ranking of No. 54.

This is a much-needed boost for Eala, who has now earned 1131 points, as she will be competing both in the singles and doubles tournament of the China tournament. The Quezon City-native is the No.4 seed in the singles division of the Guangzhou Open but is still awaiting the result of the draw for her opponent. Eala will team up with Nadiia Kichenok of Ukraine in the doubles side. The Eala-Kichenok duo will take on Great Britain’s Emily Appleton and China’s Qianhui Tang.
