Alex Eala exits Queen’s Club Championships in loss to Iva Jovic

June 11------ Filipina tennis star Alex Eala’s Queen’s Club Championships campaign came to an end in the second round, falling to 18-year-old Iva Jovic on the grass of the Andy Murray Arena.
Fifth seed Jovic imposed herself early, breaking in the opening game to lead 1-0. Eala responded by raising the pace of her shots and holding at love to make it 2-1, but Jovic quickly restored her advantage with a double break for a commanding 4-1 lead.
The American teenager closed out the first set 6-2, which reflected her control throughout the match. Despite winning just 45 percent of her first serves, Jovic compiled 12 winners against only 3 unforced errors. Eala came out sharper in the second set. Down 15-30 on her opening service game, she hammered in big serves to hold and take a 1-0 lead.
The world no. 19 Jovic responded by firing two back-to-back aces at 30-30 to level at 1-1 before breaking Eala to lead 2-1. She later continued her momentum to ultimately win the match at 6-2 6-2, talllying 26 winners and just 9 unforced errors, while Eala had 19 unforced errors. Eala will turn to her next tournament in Berlin as a qualifier starting June 15.
