Alas U18 misses out on AYG podium after bowing to Thailand

ISA TOWN, Bahrain, October 30 ------ Southeast Asian rival Thailand denied Alas Pilipinas a podium finish in the 3rd Asian Youth Games here, scoring a hard-fought three sets win. The hard-hitting Thais turned back to the challenge of the hard-fighting Filipinas, 26-24, 25-20, 26-24, to clinch the bronze medal in the girl's division.

A huge Filipino crowd drove its way at the Isa City Sports Stadium here to cheer and lift up the spirits of the Alas U18 team that is composed of the core of the National University Nazareth squad. But the Thais were simply unrattled and took the best the Filipinas could offer to repeat their similar three-game sweep of the same team during the preliminaries.
