April 16 ------ AJ Edu’s Gunma Crane Thunders and Quentin Millora-Brown’s Chiba Jets tightened their grip on playoff spots after securing midweek wins in the Japan B.League.
Gunma made quick work of Sun Rockers Shibuya, cruising to a 91-54 blowout as Edu chipped in seven points, five rebounds, and four assists. Chiba matched that an 84-63 rout of Kawasaki Brave Thunders, even without QMB, who remains sidelined due to sciatica. With the wins, Gunma and Chiba remained at the second and third spots in the East with 36-16 and 35-17 records, respectively.
Meanwhile, Levanga Hokkaido kept its playoff hopes alive after escaping Altiri Chiba behind Dwight Ramos’ 18-point, seven-rebound, and five-assist effort. Ramos and Co. improved to 32-20, still lurking just outside the playoff picture. Kai Sotto and Kiefer Ravena also came away with wins. Sotto delivered 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists to steer Koshigaya Alphas to an 87-70 win over Ibaraki Robots.
